Statement Of Purpose

Hope Chapel Waikiki exists to help people fulfill the great commandment (Mark 12:30-31) and the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20) through worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and evangelism.

Evangelism – God made us each for a mission. That mission is to share His love with as many people as we can. Each one of us has a unique mission field where we are to shine His light. We are being sent forth as witnesses of His love to the world.
(Acts 1:8, Mark 16:15, Matthew 5:13-14)

Contemporary Worship – God created us to be in relationship with Him. Worship is living in relationship to God. We express our praise and thanks to God not only through contemporary music but by the way we live. Worship is a 24/7 lifestyle. We acknowledge Jesus Christ as not only Lord of the universe, but also as Lord of our lives.
(John 15:15, John 17:3, Colossians 3:17, Colossians 3:23)

Discipleship – God created us to become like Christ. As we abide in our relationship with Jesus, we will bear fruit. Our goal is to become more like Jesus every day. We are committed to reading His word and spending personal time talking and listening to God.
(Philippians 1:6, Philippians 2:5, 2 Timothy 3:16, Romans 8:29)

Fellowship – God formed us to be part of His family. We belong to God and each other. We are committed to meeting together for Sunday celebration and during the week in small groups, which we call Ho’o Lokahi. We stress genuine Holy Spirit love and care for each person. We are committed to remembering the Lord’s Supper and to encouraging each other and to pray for each other whenever there is opportunity.
(Romans 12:5, Hebrews 10:24-25)
