THE ROAD TO THE CROSS

FOLLOWING JESUS AT A DISTANCE

They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, elders and teachers of the law came together.  Peter followed him at a distance, right int the courtyard of the high priest.  There he sat with the guards and warmed himself at the fire.  (Mark14:53-54)

Following at a distance:

You will draw in with the enemy  (Genesis 3:1-4)  (1 Corinthians 15:33)

Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men.  (Proverbs 4:14) (Psalm1:1)

You will deny your true identity in Jesus Christ  (2 Timothy 4:9-10, 16) (Ephesians 5:3-4)

If we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself.  (2Timothy 2:13)

You will further distance yourself from Jesus  (Mark 14:70-71) (Luke 15:13-14)

But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.  (Luke 15:20) (John 21)
