Seeking Peace And Rest

Listen to Sermon [MP3, 15MB]

Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God.  He removed the foreign altars and the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles.  He commanded Judah to seek the lord, the God of their fathers, and to obey his laws and commands….He built up the fortified cities of Judah, since the land was at peace.  No one was at war with him during those years, for the LORD gave him rest.  (2 Chronicles 14:2-4, 5)

Get rid of things that are offensive to GOD. (2 Chronicles 14:1)

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature…But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these;  anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.  (Colossians 3:5-8)

Seek the LORD and obey his laws and commands. (Joshua 1:7-8)

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.  (Isaiah 55:6)

Build on Jesus (John 14:27)

The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.  (Matthew 7:25)
