Following God Wholeheartedly

Listen to Sermon [MP3, 14 MB]

Now the men of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him , “You know what the LORD said to Moses the man of God at Kadesh Barnea about you and me.  I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land.  And I brought him back a report according to my convictions, but my brothers who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt with fear.”  I, however, followed the LORD my God
wholeheartedly.  So on that day Moses swore to me, “The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly.  (Joshua 14:6-9)

Don’t give in to pressure (1 John 3:7)

Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.  Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men.  Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way.  (Proverbs 4:13-17)

Be consistent (Numbers 14:24)

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm.  Let nothing move you.  Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.  (1 Corinthians 15:58)

Be committed (Colossians 2:6-7)

Whoever gives heed to instructions propers, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.  (Prov. 16:20)

So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he followed the LORD, the God of Israel wholeheartedly.  (Joshua 14:14)
