Overcoming Your Past

The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”  he told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”  “I have no husband,” she replied.  Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband.  The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband.  What you have just said is quite true.” (John 4:15-17)

Receive Jesus intimately. (John 12:46) (Psalms 40:1-4)

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.  (Hebrews. 4:16)

Responding and listening to God is vital. (James 1:22-25) (Revelations 3:20)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.  (Matthew. 11:28-30)

Rejoice in the LORD. (1 Thessalonians 5:16) (Philippians 4:4)

My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.  Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD and he answered me, he delivered me from all my fears.  Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.  This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he save him out of all his troubles.  (Psalms 34:2-6)
