Sermon – Avoid Those Who Cause Division

Listen to sermon [MP3, 15.1 MB]

Date: May 20, 2012

Speaker: Pastor Dennis Sallas

But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.  (Titus 3:9-11)

Avoid those who like to start quarrels. (Proverbs 17:14, 19) (Ephesians 5:11)

Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. (2 Timothy 2:11)

Warn a divisive person. (Galatians 6:1-2)

Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know thy produce quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will. (2 Timothy 2:24)

Have nothing to do with them…self condemned. (Matthew 7:6) (1 Corinthians 5:9-11)

I urge you brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned.  Keep away from them. (Romans 16:17)
