Got Joy?

Aloha Kakou,

We had our eleventh year anniversary of Easter Sunrise Services on the beach at Waikiki. The skies were clear, the ocean was blue and beautiful, and the weather was great. Some people at the Easter Sunrise Service were weeping and crying because of their convictions, and others were weeping and crying because of the joy that they had of being freed and released from their bondages when they had accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

In the bible, Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10) Isn’t that wild? The people were crying and weeping when they heard the Book of the Law of God that was read to them. They were convicted by what was being read. Nehemiah said, “This day is sacred do not grieve have joy within.” What? I need to be joyful? Elated? Yes you and I were lost but now we have been found.

This is a time for celebration and to have joy within. Many times in our lives, we shoot ourselves in the foot by the things we do, the things we say, and our over all attitudes. We sin, we fall short and we hurt ourselves by isolating ourselves, and by our guilt and dejection.

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8)

We are all accessible to that. Reach out to Jesus. He wants to hear from you. Take to heart what is being said here: “the joy of the LORD is your strength.” If you do not have joy, you do not have strength. So get out of the dark places that you are in, confess your sins to Jesus and he will purify you of all unrighteousness and receive the joy that is waiting for you. Rise up and start doing things for God for others and yourselves. (Hau’oli) JOY/Jesus, Others and You.

Easter Sunrise

The Lord blessed us with another beautiful morning this year for Easter Sunrise!
It always amazes me how many people come from all parts of the world to praise and give thanks to the Lord for all He has done for us. Our joyful volunteers started planning and working months earlier to make this a wonderful experience for everyone. They arrived before dawn to set up on Easter morning and you can see and feel the Love of the Lord in each of them.

Every year we have baptisms after the service. This year, the line of people took my breath away – there were 43 people who were baptized this Easter and I know Our Lord our God was rejoicing with the angels in heaven. Praise God!

Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from heavens; praise him in the heights above. (Psalms 136:1)
