Date: March 6, 2011

Speaker: Pastor Dennis Sallas

Notes:

“But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it.  He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”  (Matthew 13:23)  (Luke 8:15) But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
4 SOILS: Types of Hearts of People

Sower or Farmer:  (Matthew 13:37) The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man.

Seed:  (Luke 8:11)  The seed is the Word of God

Birds: (Matthew 13:4, 19) The evil one comes and snatches away. Satan

Soil:  (Luke 8:15) good soil stands for the Hearts of People

——

The Path, is a harden heart.  (Matthew 13:4, 19)(Exodus 17:7)  And he called the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the LORD saying, “Is the LORD among us or not?”

Rocky places, is an indecisive heart. (Matthew 13:5-6, Matthew 20-21) (No root)(Ezra 9:1-2)  “and the leaders and officials have led the way in this unfaithfulness.”

Thorns, are a preoccupied heart.  (Matthew 13:7, 22) (Choked with weeds)(1 Timothy 6:9-10)  People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction…

Good Soil, is a fruitful and productive heart. (Matthew 13:8, 23)(Luke 8:15) But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. (Hebrews 4:12-13)  For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thought and attitudes of the heart.  (Matthew 28:20)  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.

The seed has been planted by Jesus now we can harvest.  (Matt. 9:37) “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few”  (We need to plant the seed first than we can harvest)
