Deja Vu
by Pastor Dennis Sallas

Aloha Kakou,

I sent my article for the May Newsletter to Robert, our administrator, and it was sent back to me because it was almost identical as last month’s. In fact, Robert sent me copies of both the April and May articles, and I was just in awe of the same wording and all.

I meditated on what had happened. I wanted to make sense out of it. I said, “LORD what are you trying to tell me?” Then I said to myself deja vu, how old are you? Ha! Ha!

Finally, I realized that God also repeats himself so we can get the point. Hey I am not in bad company! I don’t believe it happened to me as far as getting the message to you was “let your light shine” from last months article. I just had one of those moments.

What I do believe is that God repeatedly said But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to obey his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul.” (Joshua 22:5).

In other versus in the Bible, He adds “so that you may prosper.” He repeatedly said those words so that we get the point.

Are you loving the LORD, walking in all his ways, obeying his commands, holding fast to him, serving him with all your heart, and all your soul? Why don’t you let your light shine and be prosperous? Deja vu.

Have Faith
by Donna Sallas

This month has been a difficult one. I knew God had an important lesson in store for me.

I’ve worked at the same place for over ten years. We all know the economy is in bad shape, so when we were told we had a mandatory staff meeting, I knew it wasn’t good news. We had to wait a week before the meeting and our staff members spirits were down.

I was praying, but wasn’t really walking in faith. I was letting the devil have a field day with my emotions.

We had our meeting and we were given a 10% pay cut. The thrift store where I worked would be closed on Thursdays. I would be moved to the office and was given an inconvenient schedule.

Unfortunately I didn’t thank the Lord for saving my job, I just looked at the down side. My attitude was not helping, and my faith was on hold.

Finally, the Holy Spirit started working in me. I was reminded how many times I prayed for someone and expected them to give it all over to the care of the Lord. It is so easy to say and believe when it is not me going through the fire.

I know He will never leave us or forsake us. The Lord has a plan for me, and I will receive it for “I can do all things though Christ who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13)

Happy Mothers Day
compiled by Donna Sallas

I asked the youth to share a short love letter to their moms,  and here’s what they had to say:

“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all” Proverbs 31:29

This quote reminds me so much of you Mom. Through my ups and downs you have always been there for me. You have done so much for me, even when I didn’t deserve it.

You and Daddy have both given me so much grace–he same grace that God has given all of us. Mom, even though I do not say it much, I want you to know that I truly appreciate you. I am so blessed to have a mother like you.

God totally chose the perfect women to raise me. I pray that you keep seeking Jesus daily and never stop relying on His unfailing love. Mom, when you are having a difficult day, don’t ever forget to trust in God because “The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” (Jeremiah 31:3)

I love you. Happy Mother’s Day!

Love,

Cherie

I’m glad to say that God has blessed me with a wonderful mom, and I’m lucky to have her. She led me in the right direction my whole life and will continue to do so. She is a great woman and I love her to death. She helped me through hard times and was there to make the good times great. I couldn’t imaging life without her by my side. I think I would go crazy! She is not only my mom but my best friend, I appreciate her so much even though sometimes I don’t show it. I am truly blessed to have a mom like her and I love you mom!

Happy Mother/Sister’s Day

To my sister, Raechelle, thank you for caring for me and putting up with me. I know you want me to have a good education. I really appreciate that you care so much for me and the only way to repay you is to have excellent grades on my report card.

As much as possible, I will try to do what you say, and to be on my best behavior. Thank you again for everything you’ve done for my sake. I hope to achieve a scholarship from all the work that you put in me and what I put in school.

Sean

I would like to thank my mom for making me food, buying me clothes, and even allowing our family to get a dog. That is why I love her. I also love how she helps me with my homework. I also would like to thank my mom for buying me a camera. I am also very happy that God gave me such a wonderful mother.

Happy Mother’s Day!

I love you,
